Privacy notice
Draft. This notice covers the website and the Takkar app beta. A lawyer reviews it before the app opens to everyone.
What we collect

That is all for the website. We do not ask for your name, phone number, contacts or location. This website sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
Who sees it
Only the Takkar team. The site is hosted by Vercel and the list is stored with Upstash, our database provider; both process it on our behalf. We never sell or share your data.
Like any website, our host handles basic request data such as your IP address to deliver pages and block attacks. To stop spam sign-ups we keep a scrambled, one-way code made from your IP address for one hour, then it is deleted. We do not use it to identify you.
The Takkar app (beta)
The app runs on Android and in your browser at takkar.vercel.app/play. As a guest, your nickname, games and streak stay on your phone or in your browser only (clearing the app’s or browser’s data removes them).
When it starts, the app fetches its settings from the Takkar server (run on Cloudflare), which sees your IP address and app version, as any server does; we do not store them with anything about you. If you send a report or flag a question, we receive what you write, the question, your app and browser version, and any nickname you report. We keep these only as long as we need them to fix the problem or deal with the report.
Sign-in is not available yet. When it opens, if you sign in with Google or a phone number, we will keep:
- your nickname, your 18+ confirmation and the version of the terms you accepted;
- for Google: your email address; for phone: only the last 4 digits of your number (Google's Firebase checks the full number and the SMS code for us, and in the browser shows Google's “I'm not a robot” check);
- your duels (scores, answers and times) and your streak, so you can play on another phone;
- reports and flagged questions you send.
This will be stored with Cloudflare, our server provider, until you delete your account in the app (You tab, then Delete my account and data), which removes it at once. Other players only ever see your nickname.
Your choices
- Delete everything the app keeps on your phone or in your browser at any time: You → Delete my account and data. You → Download my data gives you a copy first.
- Leave the email list, ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, through our contact page.
- If you are under 18, please do not join. If we learn an under-18 has joined, we delete their email.
Questions or complaints
Use our contact page. We acknowledge every message within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days. See the grievance contact for more.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
